About Dorchester Men’s Shed

Our Dorchester Men’s Shed has a well-equipped workshop based on the Kingston Maurward College Estate. Membership is open to all, men and women, who have an interest in woodwork and are aged over 18. The cost of annual membership is £60 per annum. The workshop will be open initially for morning and afternoon sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Our History

Men’s Sheds were founded in Australia 1980 they then expanded to New Zealand and the first one opened in the UK in 2011. By 2103 the UK had 30 sheds and currently there are over 600 in UK!

Graeme Trinder, our Dorchester Men’s Shed Founder, first learnt about Men’s Sheds when he watched a feature on Channel 4 in November 2014. It didnt take Graeme long to open a Men’s Shed in Dorchester in June 2015 at Whitfield Farm.  When the NHS sold the Whitfield Farm site in 2018 we needed to find a new home and Dorchester Men’s Shed relocated to Kingston Maurward College.

We are a Community Interest Company (CIC) which manages the workshop for the members to further friendships while working with wood.

Dorchester Men’s Shed Ladies
